Fire Incident at Packaging Plant in Khomeini Shahr Leaves One Worker Injured; HSE Investigation Underway

A fire broke out at a cardboard and packaging factory in Khomeini Shahr, Isfahan Province, resulting in severe injuries to one worker who was promptly transferred to a medical center.

According to ILNA, the incident occurred on the afternoon of the previous day at a cardboard manufacturing and packaging facility located in the Industrial Square of Khomeini Shahr. During the fire, a factory worker sustained serious burn injuries after being exposed to intense heat and flames.

Confirming the incident, Hojatollah Kargarān, Second Fire Officer and Managing Director of the Khomeini Shahr Fire and Safety Services Organization, stated that firefighting teams were immediately dispatched to the scene following the emergency call. Fire suppression and containment operations were carried out, while emergency medical services simultaneously transferred the injured worker to hospital. The burns sustained were reported to be severe.

He added that the exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined and that specialized safety and fire investigation teams are currently examining the scene to identify the source of ignition and contributing factors.

HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) experts emphasize that industrial facilities—particularly those handling flammable materials such as cardboard and paper products—are required to strictly comply with safety regulations. These include the installation of fire detection and suppression systems, regular risk assessments, continuous HSE training for workers, and proper storage of combustible materials. Failure to implement effective HSE measures can lead to serious occupational accidents, injuries, and extensive financial losses.

Authorities have initiated a comprehensive review of safety compliance, firefighting equipment readiness, and HSE management practices at the facility. The final findings will be announced upon completion of the technical investigation.
