President Emphasizes Establishing Environmental Crisis Management Post-War; Comprehensive \u201cEcocide\u201d Remediation Plan to be Drafted<\/strong><\/h3>

During an unannounced visit to the Department of Environment (DoE), the President of Iran reviewed specialized reports on the destructive environmental impacts of the \u201cRamadan War.\u201d He emphasized the urgent need to revise safety protocols, enhance national infrastructure resilience, and activate international legal diplomacy to combat environmental crimes, specifically \u201cEcocide.\u201d<\/p>

According to the Department of Environment\u2019s Public Relations office, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian made a surprise visit to the DoE headquarters this morning to assess emerging challenges and the state of the country\u2019s environmental stability following the Ramadan War.<\/p>

In a technical meeting attended by the Head of the Department of Environment and her deputies, \u201cEnvironmental Resilience Management in Emergency Situations\u201d was the focal point of the discussion.<\/p>

Documenting Damages and Combatting Ecocide<\/strong><\/p>

Shina Ansari, Vice President and Head of the Department of Environment, detailed the organization\u2019s wartime performance, stating: \u201cWith the onset of hostilities, the DoE adopted a proactive approach centered on health and environmental diplomacy, issuing necessary warnings to international bodies, including the UN Secretary-General and the head of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP).\u201d<\/p>

Ansari added: \u201cThe Ramadan War, beyond infrastructural damage, involved \u2018Ecocide\u2019\u2014the extensive destruction of ecosystems. Currently, expert teams are conducting precise field monitoring and scientific documentation of the war\u2019s destructive effects on water, soil, and biodiversity, preparing sufficient evidence for legal proceedings in international courts.\u201d<\/p>

Inter-agency Synergy for Safety and Environment<\/strong><\/p>

Emphasizing the necessity of integrating HSE guidelines during crises, the Head of the DoE stated: \u201cUnder wartime conditions, the organization\u2019s priority was to ensure the continuity of safety-driven activities and reduce infrastructure vulnerability. In this path, close operational cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs for facilitating the import of vital equipment, as well as the continuous interaction of provincial environmental forces with military units, prevented any suspension of the country\u2019s environmental protection efforts.\u201d<\/p>

She also noted recent consultations with Inger Andersen, Executive Director of UNEP, highlighting the need for technology transfer to remediate areas contaminated by war-related materials.<\/p>

Integrating Social Responsibility and Resource Conservation<\/strong><\/p>

Addressing cultural aspects, Ansari highlighted the \u201cGreen Muharram\u201d campaign, stating: \u201cThe goal of this campaign is to enhance social responsibility and promote optimal energy and waste management by leveraging the country\u2019s cultural capacities, turning environmental protection into a continuous public demand.\u201d<\/p>

Concluding the visit, the President appreciated the efforts made and emphasized three key pillars:<\/p>
